Sea otters at the Monterey Bay Aquarium enjoyed a frightful good time on Halloween morning, searching for their favorite icy treats.

The aquarium’s rescued sea otters are pros at cracking open icy treats. Just like their wild kin who use tools to pry open prey and chomp on urchins, which maintains a healthy and balanced kelp forest in Monterey Bay. The resident otters regularly enjoy enrichments like the festive ice treats this morning, allowing them opportunities to engage in healthy and fun ways to stimulate natural behaviors like swimming, foraging, diving and cracking open food.
