The Monterey Bay Aquarium Celebrates the Next Generation of Ocean Heroes at Día del Niño on April 24

The Monterey Bay Aquarium celebrates children and families during Día del Niño on Sunday, April 24. The day is filled with special presentations, activities and performances throughout the aquarium. Children 12 years old and under are admitted free all day.
During the cultural event, families are entertained and delighted with a selection of fun activities and lively performances.
Visitors can enjoy the traditional Mexican melodies of 16-year old Gabriela Sepulveda and Mariachi California, as seen on national programs “Sábado Gigante” (“Giant Saturday”), “Tengo Talento” (“I’ve Got Talent”) and “La Voz Kids” (“The Kid’s Voice”). Sepulveda and Mariachi California perform at 12, 1 and 2 p.m. on the Great Tide Pool Deck.
Also, visitors can watch a bilingual diver hand-feed sharks, fishes and other animals during a special bilingual feeding program at the Kelp Forest Exhibit.
The Discovery Lab classrooms transform into a craft room from 1 to 4 p.m. where children and their families get creative, decorating postcards with messages for loved ones.
Día del Niño visitors can come nose-to-nose with furry and charismatic sea otters, colorful jellies, mysterious octopuses, schools of sardines and many more magical marine species. Journey to the sandy beaches and crystal clear seas of Baja California in "¡Viva Baja! Life on the Edge," the Monterey Bay Aquarium's newests special exhibition.
Día del Niño offers great ways for children and families to gain a deeper appreciation for marine life at the aquarium and beyond. Regular admission is $39.95 for adults; $34.95 for seniors (over 65) and students (full-time college, with I.D.); $24.95 for the disabled; children 12 and under will receive free admission for this event only (2016 prices; subject to change).
