Aquarium Announces ‘Locals Only’ Program

Feb 01, 2016

To show appreciation for its local community, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is offering a variety of special promotions throughout 2016 to residents of Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties.

The new “Locals Only” program includes special prices on admission in spring and summer, and two extra months of benefits to those who join the world-class aquarium as members. All aquarium members can enjoy previews of the new special exhibition, “¡Viva Baja! Life on the Edge,” which opens to the public March 19.

“¡Viva Baja!” explores the diverse habitats and amazing animals of Baja California—such as the Panamic green moray, Pacific seahorse, staghorn hermit crab and a rainbow of tropical fishes. It also features iconic desert animals—a first for the aquarium—including a tortoise, iguana, mountain kingsnake, hairy scorpion and Western tarantula.

The “Locals Only” offers are only available on-site at the aquarium, and tri-county residents must present valid ID to take advantage of the specials. Visit the aquarium’s website for more information.
