Young People with Disabilities Become “Underwater Explorers” on Annual “Zach Bunnell Day of Discovery”

The Monterey Bay Aquarium will host over 30 young people ages 8 to 14 – with varying disabilities and special needs – for a 90-minute SCUBA experience, sponsored by Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation and Children’s Miracle Network, in the Aquarium’s Great Tide Pool.
Monterey Bay Aquarium, Stanford University to Host International Symposium on Future of Bluefin Tuna

The Monterey Bay Aquarium and Stanford University – partners in the Tuna Research and Conservation Center – will host the Bluefin Futures Symposium from January 18-20, 2016. It will bring together leading science, policy, business and conservation leaders from around the world to address the status and future of bluefin tunas in the global ocean.

Celebrate the oceans and all they provide during a festive Cooking for Solutions weekend honoring World Oceans Day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. On Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7 enjoy special activities including live music, cooking demonstrations, family crafts, sustainable seafood samplings, special talks with our aquarists, and much more – all included with aquarium admission.

Friday, May 15, the Monterey Bay Aquarium will join with American Zoological Association colleagues nationwide to mark Endangered Species Day with the launch of a new initiative, AZA SAFE – Saving Animals from Extinction. The aquarium will highlight the threats of extinction facing many species in the wild – and the work the aquarium and AZA colleagues are doing to make a difference.
